Roof Cleaning
02/17/09 at 11:17:09

Does anyone have any companies they have used to clean their roofs stains and they were happy with the work?  I just received the dreaded letter and I'm not permitted to use a ladder anymore.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have not gotton a letter (as of yet) and I am sorry that I cannot offer any companies to use.

Quite frankly I find it rather stupid to have to clean roofs off, in the middle of winter or at all for that matter!  The ones who are writing these letters up cannot even enforce the rules for other violations that others have gone years without having to comply with and they expect us to jump up and down during the rain, wind and winter cold and clean a roof? Get real folks.  Or better yet fork over some hard earned money that most of us probably do not have to throw away on roof cleaning? Does anyone know what a company charges for this, a couple of hundred dollars or so???? I am over some of these rules that appy to only some and not others. I am just plain over it.

If we get one, they will have to wait until spring/summer when it is warmer and when I see other issues at hand addressed that have gone by the wayside for a very very sad longtime. We do not have the money to pay someone or throw away I should say on a "roof cleaning"  when we need to worry about high utility bills, cost of gas, food, medical care and so on. We WILL NOT spend the money on roof cleaning versus everyday living.  I mean what is the worst that can happen to you for not complying with the yard cop rules?  Sorry Ted, I hope someone can provide the info you are looking for and wish you well in getting your roof cleaned.   Smiley Smiley

Ted and everyone else,
I to got one of those letters, Well actually two but their small.
I can not reccomend a company, but I do know something that works.
A product called SPRAY AND FORGET.   It is available at only one location in the area.  The ACE hardware store on providence road just after you cross over Military Highway  Yeah a long way to go but I believe worth it.  A one gallon bottle of concentrate cost me around $50.00 and I used half of it to treat my roof all my siding and my fence.   I used a standard garden hose and garden sprayer.

Spray and Forget is plant and animal friendly.   You have the option of when and how often you apply it.    Works best when it is sunny and warm.

IT DOES NOT HOWEVER WORK INSTANTLY!!!  This product works over time.  dependent on the weather and how heavy the growth is.  Have not treated mine for two years tho.

Like I said, I got my own letter.  however when I responded that this is what I was doing, the matter was apparently dropped,  or it could have been my asking if the six plus homes I could see from my front yard that were worse than mine were also notified.  Don't think so, they still bad.

Ted, I know this doesn't help with your no climbing restriction, but it the best I can come up with.  You got any body that owes you a big favor?
